Espresso Coffees

We feel we hold a special place in the history of espresso coffee in the UK. We roasted our first espresso coffee back in 1954, right during the ‘frothy coffee’ revolution. We introduced espresso coffee to the UK, and we have been perfecting our craft ever since.

Our commitment to quality remains unwavering, and we have embraced modern roasting techniques and packaging methods. Notably, our original espresso blend, Espresso Reale, is still part of our offerings, alongside an impressive range of 19 different espresso coffees—the largest selection from any UK manufacturer.

You will find all these blends in some of the most famous restaurants in the UK.

The first blend we created in our new home on the Royal Arsenal - hence the name! A balanced blend of washed processed coffee from El Salvador and Colombia, this espresso is sweet and complex with notes of caramel and pecan, a cherry acidity, liquorice sugary sweetness and a lingering dark chocolate aftertaste.

Cupping Notes: caramel; pecan; liquorice sweetness; cherry acidity.

Mexican

Espresso Roast

Processed in the innovative Descamex plant in Mexico, this superb coffee is gently decaffeinated by washing with pure, glacier water from Mexico's highest mountain, Pico de Orizaba. The raw coffee beans are immersed and washed in tanks which removes almost all the caffeine, and are then slowly dried over a period of four hours. This chemical-free method produces a coffee that is richly flavoured, full-bodied and 99.9% caffeine free and is, in our opinion, the best decaffeinated coffee we’ve ever tried.

Cupping notes: chocolate; pecan; caramel

New House Blend - 4/02/26

65/35 mix of Peruvian and Ecuadorian coffees

The Peruvian element is a washed blend of Bourbon, Catimor and Typica, all grown at elevations in excess of 1700 masl from farms around Jaen in Cajamarca in the north-west of the country. From Ecuador we’ve selected a natural processed blend of Typica, Bourbon, Red Bourbon and Caturra from Finca Alema in the mountainous region of Loja. The sweet, rounded characteristics of the Peruvian are perfectly balanced with fruity and citrus notes from the Ecuador coffee, resulting in a blend that is as approachable as it is delicious.

Notes of Grapefruit; Marzipan; White Chocolate.

Espresso recipe: 19g in, 38ml out, 26-28 seconds
