One of our heritage blends, first developed in the 1960s, this dark roast pure Arabica espresso coffee blend is perhaps our most versatile coffee. Excellent for all brewing forms, it excels in espresso and filter where its rich, deep flavours shine.

Cupping Notes: milk chocolate; cherry; raisins; hazelnut.

We started buying this coffee from the shop at Waterloo station in the 1980's. Since then we've worked overseas, back in London and now in Scotland. Apart from our time overseas we've been buying Moka D'Or for mail order delivery ever since. Maybe we lack imagination! but to us this coffee outperforms most other brands we've tried and it is consistently good. I might try and calculate how many kilos we've purchased over the years - its a lot!

This is my preferred blend for use in my home espresso machine. It produces a dark coffee with excellent crema, with strong notes of caramel and chocolate. I've compared it with blends from Illy, Carluccio's and Monmouth and much preferred it.
Don't be misled by the 'espresso' part of the title, this works really well as a filter coffee as well, been buying this from Drury for many years and the quality is always excellent.
I first tasted this coffee in one of Gordon Ramsey,s restaurants and loved the coffee so much, managed to prise the brand from the waiter. My family has enjoyed this coffee from the delivery of this coffee. All agree that it is full of flavour, without any bitterness . I have tried many many coffees but this is my favourite.
Nicely balanced flavour, not too strong with a pleasant, slightly sweet taste. Always manage to get good espresso crema with this coffee.
It's also a wonderful coffee brewed through an espresso maker for making latte. One of my all-time favourites.
I first drank Moka D'Or (there was no 'Espresso' in the name then) in the 1980s, when I worked around the corner from Drury's shop on the edge of Covent Garden. Since then, it has been a staple in our household. It is ideal in a cafetière; properly made, with water that has gone well off the boil, and steeped for four minutes, it is dependably full of deep, chocolately richness. We always drink it black, with no sugar, but others tell us it is just as good with as without.

Packing & Grinding

With one exception (1Kg Beans) EVERY pack of Drury coffee sold via this website is prepared to order. We weigh, grind (if required) and pack your coffee in our heat-sealed foil bags which are equipped with a one-way valve that allows the freshly roasted coffee to release its wonderful-smelling aromas without letting any oxygen in, ensuring your coffee stays fresher for longer.

* We calibrate our espresso grind using commercial espresso equipment to give an average across ALL machines and cannot grind specifically for different models. If your machine is particularly sensitive to variation in grind we recommend grinding at home.

A note on Aeropress coffee makers: one of the Aeropress’s great strengths is its flexibility in brewing - dose weight, grind and extracting pressure all have a part to play in this. For that reason one can select any grind from espresso to cafetiere for use in the Aeropress, depending on personal preference. For those new to this form of brewing we would recommend starting off with a medium ground coffee and taking it from there.
